White perch on Calcasieu River.

Anyone fish the Calcasieu for white perch? Went today and found some average size and some small ones in Dans Bay and Old town Bay. Years ago I would fish for them from watermelon bay up to Dans Bay. Going to try the main river soon to see if I can find them 2 & 3 pounders like we used to but water is so muddy now. Main river system u could see 6" at best and in the bays 8"-9" down. Back then main river system would clear up to 2-3 feet down. Wouldn't even start trying to fish for white perch until it cleaned up To where u could see more than a foot down. Would start off in the bays and cuts in around 6-10 feet of water around March or April when they were finished draining the rice fields into Bayou serpent. Then as it cleared to 2-3 feet come July and August would start fishing tree tops along main river channel and catch 2-3 pounders all the time. Just curious if anyone has had any luck catching them now that the water never really gets better than wat it is now. 8-9". See a lot of guys bass fishing these days but not for white perch. Caught 19 today but half of them were small. I know to catch the bigger ones in numbers have to get along main channel in deeper water just not sure if it's clear enough anymore. Anyway after today I'm thinking about putting some time in to find out. I would catch em all the way to and thru December or until first freeze or so. I'm gonna keep looking back at older posts but most anything to do with Calcasieu freshwater is Bass and goggle eyes. Thks

We used to get shiners and fish the bridge down deep. Catch anywhere from 4-8 most of the time but hey we're good size. Haven't done it in yrs.
