Snapper out of Venice

Can red snapper be caught within the 3 mile state waters out of Venice?

Yes. Take a look at the water depth on the chart. The bold grey line is the 3 mile mark. I'm not saying you can catch huge snapper but you can catch them

Has this been made official? Thought there was some controversy b/w 3-10 miles?

Dink 05-29-2014 09:33 PM

It'll be a ticket most likely. Last year they wrote some warnings I think but then started with tickets. Lots and lots of people fish to the 10 mile mark every day there. Doesn't make it right or wrong but there is more safety in numbers. Just drive fast till you get back to 3 miles after catching your fish. Lol

If you see a big boat coming towards you just pick up and head back towards the line. Its all about where you possess the snapper

A friend of mine got a ticket about a month ago by the feds. From what he is telling me is the Federal judge is going to dismiss the ticket.

haoward 05-30-2014 10:03 AM

How much was the ticket?

Top Dawg 05-30-2014 10:24 AM

The states act as Feds

Dont know he has to go to court. Form what he is saying the judge is going to drop the charges when he goes to court. Will know in a few weeks.

Everything Ive heard is the state WLF guys arent patrolling inside 9nm and they are only enforcing state laws. Just what I've heard from people who own bigger boats than me
