Wal-Mart

This is a ruff draft, of there letter. i will put in ( ) some back ground info. If any of yall know my parents this is very funny and funier to here them tell it.
Walmart Corp. Office
702 SW 8th Street
Bentonville, Arkansas 72716-8611

I experienced an incident that happened in your WalMart store at 9025 Spencer Hwy. La Porte, Texas 77571 on September 29, 2013 at approximately 10:30am.
I was in the store and told my wife “let’s swing by the gun and hunting section”, I found a Rossi 410 Youth Shotgun priced at $133.00. I decided to get it. No one was around, so my wife went to find someone and they called for someone to come to the gun counter. We waited and waited, so we went and found someone again and they called for someone to come to the gun counter. Finally this guy showed up, (dad is not the most pasent mam in the world) looking kinda disgusted, like he did not want to miss with a gun sale. So I proceeded to ask some questions about this shotgun, which he did not know much about the gun, but that was ok. I then told him I wanted the gun, so started filling out the paperwork on the computer, which I am 66 years old and do not work computers much, so I was kinda lost, and was offered no help from the salesman at all. But about this time my wife showed back up and helped me.(he got if figured out but put 5'7" and his Dl. says 5'6" so he was told to redo it)
After the salesman for Walmart fumbled around abit about 40 minutes had passed. Then an assistant manager, Tracy showed up, did not say a word, started taking over. After having to switch registers, my wife showed back up and made a comment about how long it is taking and the manager lady did not like that and asked if there was a problem, and I said well it has been taking over 40 minutes, bought one yesterday (at a gun show) and it only took 5 minutes. So after a bit and me and my wife talking to each other about how long it was taking, I guess the manager did not like our comments and was getting mad, I guess. Tracy, the assistant manager then asked where we were parked, just out of the blue. We did not realize that we had to be escorted out of the store. (as stated before they have been buying from gun shows of my grandad a FFL. holder) Tracy finally told us that she had to escort us out, that was fine, but we did not know that. I told her that we were parked out in the parking lot. (i am sure by this time it was a little scarksome by now) Tracy did not like that answer either.
So then it became time to pay for the shotgun. I do not know anything about how to work the credit card machines. I asked the assistant manager if she was ready for me to swipe my card, and got no response, so my wife kinda grabbed my card and swiped the card. Tracy the assistant manager just blew up said my wife was interfering with a federal gun sale, and that she was forfeiting the sale. We were just shocked, and it happened so fast, we were not even sure what was going on because we could not understand Tracy very well, ( she spoke ebonicks) and I don’t hear real good. We were both puzzled about this and I said Ok. I mumbled that was fine and I would purchase the shotgun elsewhere. I then picked up the form and said we needed to void this paperwork and the manager went haywire. Tracy stated, No I have to keep this form. So I told her to write VOID on the form and she would not. Tracy told me that it was against the law for her to write anything on this form, it was a federal form. My wife asked her what was her problem and why she was being so rude to us. The manager then called the Police on me. The manager then began to scream at my wife and told her to GET OUT OF HER STORE. My wife said, What? you are kidding me. No, Tracy the assistant manager started screaming at her again to get out of "her" store. So she left.
My wife called the store manager from her car, she was told that the store manager was Mr. Monty. My wife began to tell Mr. Monty about what was going on and he said they should have written void on the paperwork. So I asked him to go back to the gun counter and handle this situation. Evidently he did not even go back there. That was not right, the store Manager Mr. Monty should have been back at the gun counter even before I had to call him.
So the Police came (one white one black, both Fem. not saying race started to play a role but?) and one of the police were on my side and said just write void on the paper, but the other Police sided with Tracy the assistant manager and said that this was the way it was going to be and get out!!! The Police were told by the assistant manager, Tracy that it was against the law for her to write on these federal forms. So I left. I would have perused this more, but I am coming off a major back surgery and did not want to spend the night in jail. Someone can now get that shotgun and kill someone and that serial number to that shotgun is on my paperwork in my name. I just wanted some piece of mind that that is not going to happen, by just writing void on the paperwork, or scratching through the serial number to the shotgun that I did not purchase. The officers were Deer Park Officers, Officer Williams, Obanion and one more.
When I got home, I called the Walmart Manager, Mr. Monty, which was a joke, he just said to me that they had to keep the papers and they could not be written on.
On Monday morning, September 30, 2013 I contacted the Department of Public Safety Law Division and the Nics headquarters. I then got a hold of the investigating department and told my story and was getting quite a different story. Those papers can and it should have been voided somehow.
Our receipt from the items that my wife purchased on her way out, after being kicked out of the store, states that Mr. James Lindsey is the manager, but when we called we were told that a Mr. Monty was the manager. That did not make much sense.
This was a horrible incident and needs some attention immediately. We could have gone to jail over something as stupid as, us just wanting to protect ourselves.
My wife then called Mr. Lindsey about this incident and asked if he was familiar with this problem. I was told yes, he was not very nice, told me that he had seen the paperwork and it had in big red letters on the papers that the transaction was voided. I said really, because we and the Deer Park Police were told that these papers could not be written on. I asked if we could come in and review these papers and he said yes, just call Gloria in the hunting dept. So Mr. Lindsey did not want to deal with the situation either, So he transferred me to Gloria, My wife started asking if me and her could come in to see the paperwork that supposable has red ink voiding them. Gloria stated that she could not talk to me, because I was not the one who purchased the gun. My wife stated that her husband did not purchase the gun either, and handed me the phone.
So me and my wife went into the Walmart store, asked for Gloria and she pulled out the paperwork, (held it back like 4 foot acting like they were going to grab it and run or somthing) and to our surprise on the front page and the second page someone had written transaction voided in big red magic marker on the paperwork for the federal government. Now I do not know if the Investigating Agent, whom I had talked to earlier that morning called Walmart or what, but now the paperwork was right.
This whole episode was very wrong, We were not only treated very rudely by a salesperson, Tracy an Assistant Manager, Mr. Monty, Store Manager and Mr. Lindsey Store Manager. We were humiliated, and were very embarrassed in public. And the Deer Park Police were called on us. I have never in my life of 66 years been treated like this, nor has my wife. This could have gone very bad.
If Walmart does not have the personnel that can or are willing to learn what is involved with selling a firearm, then they need to not sell them. We were told over and over, and the Police were told over and over that these papers could not be written on. That is wrong information, and for lieing to an officer your employe was latter sighted on monday. ( thought they arested her that was my bad)

i have not been to walmart in years... and don't plan on going anytime soon. there is no service there

I doubt the douche bag clerks will ever hear anything of it but it might be worth a shot to call the district manager for that area. if it goes nowwhere it's merely 10 minutes of wasted time, but if they do something about it, the 10 minutes would be well spent..i guarantee you all were not the first people to be treated like that by those a$$holes..

Just a bunch of dumb sh?t employees. I shop at walmart but don't trust them for any purchase more complicated than a roll of paper towels. Todays gun guy was working lawn and garden yesterday and stocking can goods the day before that. They have no specialized knowledge of any aspect of their job.

Wow, that is quite a story. Hard to believe in this day and age something like that could happen. Thank goodness you had the tenacity to keep following up to make the paperwork right. Walmart were totally wrong
