Well Mr. Obama took care of that, alot of companies have froze hirring, but I would get T2 Certified, get a resume' together and send it to any number of companies, but PM me when you get all that together and I'll give you a few numbers of comp. that will give a guy a chance. I still have a little pull with them.

Holy crap!!! I just went to both of those sites and was checking out their welding needs...What a joke! They were offering instructors 38-48k per year in SAUDI!!! I bet that job stays open for a while! LOL It makes me curious as to what they are paying welders. I doubt it's much.

Hopedale Hustler 06-16-2009 01:38 PM

yaa i know...i weld now..im looking for a carreer change cause its wearing me out bad..2 years of it has been enough..i love it just aint what i wanna do for the rest of my life..

LaAngler 06-16-2009 03:08 PM

pay went down on a lot of the oil jobs, 2 years ago i was getting emails from the headhunters for jobs at 100-150K yr, now they are 40-70K

LittleRob 06-16-2009 03:15 PM

Yeah right now with the price of oil and the economy these companies know they don't have to compete with other companies, as far as pay cause alot of companies are laying off.

Hopedale Hustler 06-16-2009 03:19 PM

LittleRob 06-16-2009 04:48 PM

Now this is going to become a ****** measuring contest I guess, I work for a major oil company and I don't make what I think they should pay. Hopedale.... get your foot in the door anywhere you can and you'll see how you like being away from home first. Then after a little time in you start see in the vast # of different jobs out here are.

Hopedale Hustler 06-16-2009 04:51 PM

yaa ima go with that rob...i acctually enrolled in the class a little while ago for the t2 cert..hopefully it will help and your advice has been helpful..thanks.

Go online and apply at Exxon/Mobile, Chevron,Elpaso ,Shell and Enbridge pipelines(there are lots out there)……They mostly hire guys with no experience so they can train you their way…..(With NO BAD HABITS)….I would almost bet a week’s pay you have a better chance getting hired with a Big company with no time then me with 10 years….I know the game and all the tricks of the trade….(Most majors now like Fresh Meat)
