Gator tail surface drive with reverse.

stay away from mud buddy. I have first hand experience and they are junk. Gatortail is really good. I had a gatortrax boat with a gatortail and i absolutely loved it. I would and probably will buy both again. I had a mud buddy on that boat and that motor was nothing but trouble. I sold it at 4 months old and swapped to gatortail and everything was great after that. Go to mudmotortalk.com for all the info you can handle

Every mud boat I've ever seen was a constant pain! I've got a great skiff wit a 40 Merc on it and wish o could afford a surface drive for it. I'd definitely be after a Gatortail! They make a GTR35 that's outa control! 35hp Vanguard wit reverse! I've seen em operate and they are quite the rig!!!

What he wants for it?

Ray 05-30-2010 08:33 PM

The ones with a V-8 or V-6 are good for slush and soft mud.
But they can be torn up in shallow water with hard mud.
Ask me how I know.

Micah 05-30-2010 08:37 PM

How do you know?

LOL

I hunted on the West side of the Creole Canal, just East of North Prong.
Slush, lilly's, nuttin kept us from hunting, even low water.

Moved behind Cameron with hard bottom and I pulled the rudder off one time and another time I broke the strut from the bottom of the boat.

Had to sell and go with a tunnel hull when they first came out.

I started with a 14 ft. and a 20 hp.
Then a 20 ft. with a 25 hp. but I had trouble getting on top with a boat load of gators.
So I got a 40 hp Merc. That was the combo that worked bestest.

I think he had a 20 ft with a 25 'zuke...might of just been a 25 'zuke...and somebody else with the 40 merc.
