Input on motion decoys
 

Looking to buy a couple of motion duck decoys. Any suggestions? Maybe MOJO Teal or Baby MOJO?

I wouldn't see why a couple of mojo teal would draw them in nicely...

A question I would propose is if the motor is the same size and the body and wings are smaller it would = less resitance which would mean a longer battery life...

only thing with the larger MOJO is that it would be more visible to high flying ducks...but how often do you pull those high flyers down??

IMO, I would go with the dove because of the size. It doesn't matter if you are shooting new birds but I believe the old ducks flair from the big strobe effect. The doves are $20 cheaper so you can buy 2 for what 1 teal cost.;)

i have the big one by edge lucky duck or something they have a small one now to don't know how much though. they are cheaper than the mojo and i have no complaints. actually the reason i bought that one was because of the plastic wings instead of the cardboard looking ones for mojo.....They also have the wind propelled ones but they can be tricky they have to be perfectly level to work... the dove ideal may be good though all you really need is something to get them to look at your spread.

Mojo definetly the one to go with.....I would buy 2 mojo doves, we have used them in the spread and they work fine.

a buddy of mine on the lease just got the new quest outdoor mallard master pro. It floats on the water so it doesnt matter if your water gets too deep. Its wings spin for a few seconds then stop (always on the dark side) the wings have some little flaps that hit the water making splash and ripples. gives movement on the water on the calm days. Im gonna get the smaller version,cause its 50 bucks cheaper.

I got my MoJo for mowing a small yard..took a total of 5 minutes...HEHEHE :)

Dove idea will work

...You gotta think though, as smart as a duck is..Lets say you have 2 mallards circling, MOjo is running, wouldn't they be like WTH why hasn't he landed??

When it is calm and quiet, mechanical decoys make too much noise.
I only used them when there was a good wind.

Do yall think these mojo decoys help or hurt (flare) more for bringing ducks in range. I've heard both sides on this before.

When they first came out, I thought it was bull crap.
But my friends who used them were able to pull some ducks down on bluebird days
that normally didn't come down.
They are still pretty good during the first split, when the ducks are still dumb.
The second split I always changed my spread up almost daily. By the second split
the ducks start getting smart. You can't leave your decoys the same all season long.

yeah late season ducks have seen it all...I've heard blue bird days are the best for mojos...

we hunt mostly potholes in flooded timber,so we normally pick up our decoys every hunt(kinda keeps the local ducks in check.)

I had a big pond, close to 25 acres or so. Long, running North to South.
Right South of Lamberts Bayou weirs.
On cold north windy days, the ducks came in fast and low. If you didn't
have a pretty big spread, they wouldn't think about stopping.
I got some pictures somewhere that I need to scan.

9 times out of 10 i pick my deeks up.

Its a pain, to get out there early to put em up/pick em up/ etc..

it is a pain,but I think its worth the trouble. I usually only put out a couple of dozen though.

Mojo's definetly work.........and best on blue bird days. Sometimes you don't even have to call, they just fall in the decoys....and teal, well, they try to land on the dang thing.....you won't be disappointed, they work, that's why they outlawed them in Arkansas.

I had anywhere from 10 to 12 dozen. In 1 ft. of water.
That would fillup the boat a few times and no room for me, 2 hunters and the dog.

I ordered some of these over the weekend. I just don't believe the mojos work like they used too. When they are making that long flight south, they've seen every variation of mechanical decoys. Thought I'd give these a try to have something a little different from other spreads around me. I've seen some other spreads with one mojo and some with 5 mojos. Just trying to find something different.

So, numbers of decoys and picking up each hunt really worth it? Think it makes a big difference?
