I have about 10 Abu Garcia revos (1 S, 8 SXs, 1 winch). I am thinking of replacing them with the Quantum Exo. I was wondering if the switch is worth the head ache of lightening up my units for the price? Are the reels reliable as the Revo? I love the revo but if I could change I would. Would also consider the Quantum Smoke. I bought a new 3rd gen Revo. It feels great but is fairly loud when casting/flipping. Let me hear what you rather if you tried both. Let me know how you like either one. Thanks

If you're using them for saltwater then stay far, far away from the quantums.

I had a quantum smoke for 3 days. Fished with it 2 days then brought it back because it locked up in the salt. If you're choosing between the revo and the quantum then I would go with the revo. I have used my neighbor's revo premiers (gen 3 stx's) a few times and they seem like great reels.

Thanks Mike! I guess I'll stick to my revos. They never let me down. I love them. I'm just wondering what all the hype is about with these light reels

What don't you like about the Revo? I had a Revo Inshore and lost it in the water and now have an "S" and both reels were great

Shimano chronarch 200e....the lews tournament pro is nice as well.

Not going back to shimano! My dad uses Lew's. I really like the Lew's. they are in consideration. The reason I wanna switch is because I have a wild hair up my you know what. And my Gen3 Revo is not as good quality as my Gen2s. And when my Gen2s wear out I don't want to go to the Gen3.

Why not shimano?

I wouldnt go to the new shimano... pure crizap. By the time those Revos go out you will be in Gen 10! If i could do it all over again I would load up with Revo S, STX, and a couple Lews Tournament Pros.

I just put some Boca's in about a 10yr old Cardiff and she feels like brand new.

Nothing against them. I just had shimano already. About every 6 years I try new reel companies. I will tell you this. I prefer the garcias over the shimanos for drag power and comfort. As for as smoothness and action the shimano is smoother. As for as longevity the both last about the same.

The gen3 revoSX is loud. I know the Lew's are smooth as a babies bottom

Quantum smoke seems to be a pretty popular setup among the natives in Toledo Bend... alot of them sold there...spoke with a guide and he swears by both the rod and reel. I wouldnt mind trying one out.

Well rods I'm not switching. I been using Castaway for 10 years. One of the finest rods I ever put in my hands and by far the strongest. I'll put them against and rod on the market.

Lews all of them are great and for the price u cant beat them even the 99 dollar one is an awsome reel

One thing I like about Lew's (and the same goes for the Revo) is that all their reels are the same body shape and size just different insides. So if you like me a don't throw a spinnerbait that often but you have a rod designated for it you can get away with the $99 Lew's and it fits in your hand the exact same as the $200 Lew's because its the same frame. So you not spending $200 on a reel you rarly use. That's why I like the Revo so much because all the models use the same frame. Some may be made of different materials to make them lighter or perform better. This concept makes the average tournament angler better. #My opinion

The shimano chronarch e series is the same as a curado 200 e series. Chronarch and on to the higher end reels are money. The new curado and citica g series is trash.

I learned long time ago that the ones that are expensive is because they are worth it. I have rebuilt a few of my revos over the years. thats one of the things about high end reels. you dont replace..... you repair. unless you just have a wild hair in your *** for a new reel (like me;)
