SaltyCajun.com - Squirrel 10/1

Made a first opening morning hunt as a civilian again on opening day. Woke up a little past 30 minutes till and was still able to get out there before official sunrise. Hunted some family property off of stringer bridge road in St Amant and it never fails to produce. Saw at least 15-20 squirrels but was only able to get close enough and track down these 4. First one was a nice fox squirrel that came trying to sneak by as I was standing against a tree waiting for one to come around the other side of the tree I was looking at. Second was the cat squirrel I was waiting to come around said tree. 3rd was another fox squirrel that I had jumped at least 7 or 8 squirrels out of a cluster of bushes but I forgot to reload my tube and only had 1 shell. 4th was the cat squirrel I saw at the very top of a 150ft+ cypress tree and waited for it to come down into 20ga range. It was getting late in the morning and I had some pre LSU game things to take care of so I called it a day after that. Gonna head out today after work and see if I can't add to the pot to make a small squirrel jambalaya or fry them up and make a gray with them and put them over some dumplings.
