After a week long hiatus from weather cancellations, good customer Tommy Prejean called and wanted trout Friday morning. When he showed up at the camp at 3:00 he changed his mind and said let's go now. Along with grandsons Brody and Brennan, we quickly loaded the boat and headed south. With good daylight left and tales of a hot trout bite from earlier today, I pushed the throttles to the gel coat and made it to the gulf in less than an hour. Before I could get the troll motor down, Brody had a trout on the hook. Wow. These fish were going nuts. So I set the Xi5 Motor Guide on anchor lock and went to work. Brennan caught on quick as he is nearly a professional fisherman. Two at a time his first cast to the last, that one. Brody is only 6 years old and kept up with the best of them. When the smoke cleared an hour later, 100 trout were in the baskets yet to be on ice. It was that quick. Northbound and ready to do again tomorrow. The kids are already fishing on the dock and don't want to stop. They are talking about going back after midnight. LOL. Will report back tomorrow!
