Didn't have trouble with the shallow water in marsh island? I can get to my fishing spot in the island due to shallow water like I could during the summer.

I did not go in very far, wind was calm and outgoing tide, I am always afraid of getting hung up but been lucky so far. I my ole sled drafts fairly shallow but , I have run up and got stuck, raised jack plate up and was able to back out.

wishin i was fishin 12-27-2013 10:37 PM

I think i got a hit today but not sure.

Here is a run down of my day:
Started in the cove
Saw etrahan, he had the 5,
met Salty Dogg, he had 1.
went to weeks bay water was muddy, fished canals, nothing.
fished a few holes in shark bayou, nothing.
talked to another guy in shark bayou, he had 4 reds.
back to cove, nothing.
hit the landing, guy pulling out had 1 trout.
Talked to another guy passing by the landing to see if anyone caught.
Also talked to another couple that were putting in.

did more talkin than catchin. All in all it was a fun day though.

Etrahan 12-27-2013 10:38 PM

No run I fish the cove

phiboyy13 12-27-2013 11:37 PM

slow slow! Drifted the cove with only one trout to show off. cold weather, no fish, not fun!

jamesf 12-28-2013 06:49 AM

Water temps are getting low. We don't have enough deep And salty water in the bay system to support trout all winter if it's cold which this winter has been thus far. When water temps start getting into the mid 50's trout usually leave

That from you??? I know you know and everyone else should. They hybernate. You could put shrimpz on their nose, and it wouldn't wake them.

SeaHunt19 12-28-2013 11:03 AM

Fished the Cove and Shark Bayou yesterday from 6:30-10:30. Threw every Gulp, plastic, and lure in the box. Even tried frozen shrimp as a last ditch effort. Not a single bite.

^^^ This is what got to figure out, I don't think they migrate to Costa Rica.

jamesf 12-28-2013 01:17 PM

Clampy I really think MOST not all migrate back to the gulf and east of the river to the marshes south of Houma and Cocodrie. They catch fish all winter over there. Maybe some stay in the gulf. Not sure but our salinities usually drop off the charts in Jan and Feb

BayBolt23 12-28-2013 01:28 PM

I'm sure they move back out to the pass where the salinity is higher! Has anybody ever fished the reefs in the pass during the winter?

The weather is too bipolar during the wintertime. I am not brave enough to make a run out there
