Huey and I hit the water again today after work. First cast = fish!! I thought we were doomed, but it all worked out. 8 brim and a few cats. Ill remember today forever....... He reeled one in, and as I was unhooking it, he gave me a big hug and said "I love you daddy". I'm getting misty.......

Dink I remember those days. I use to bring my 3 boys when they where 3, 6, & 8. A true lesson in patience. Enjoy it while you can. Once they hit 17 and start driving its less and less. My 17 and 19 year old are still fishing but catching the 2 legged fish now.

Mine is 16 and I am feeling such a sense of rejection......LOL, can't compete with the girl down the road right now. Have plenty memories from 3 years old till now, and just have to wait for the new ones, once we get past this TOUGH TEENAGE TIME, gets really tough on this Dad sometimes, but it's part of growing up.

mcjaredsandwich 04-17-2012 08:14 AM

That's awesome Tim! Can't wait til I can do the same years from now.

Cool!

Dink 04-17-2012 08:30 AM

I tell y'all what. Huey is my BEST friend..... I've got 2 step sons as well, 14 and 11. And its really difficult to hold it all together. Huey obviously gets more attention even though I try to spread it out. The 11yo was with us too, but he was such a *itch the whole time I didn't include him in the report. The 14yo has come along way in the last few years. He was rebellious, and wanted to do what he wanted when he wanted. Now he's the best kid you could ask for........I'm hopeful the 11yo will come around, and soon!!!!!! I'm also hopeful that Huey and I don't stray the way y'all are talking about. I hang on his every word and think it will kill me when he hits those teen years........

jgannard 04-17-2012 09:10 AM

That's awesome TIM. I'm glad he did good.
