Had to be at heliport at 5 to drop someone off. Stopped in a honey hole in buras and did work. All on Spectrum Spook and gold/black skitter walk. Release 4 reds and kept 6 trout. Nothing under 21".

Them suckas had my knees weak chasing that skitta in 12" of water. I had about 20 blow ups. Pulled off 3 nice ones. They would smoke it then bury me in the grass and come off.

same as a baitcaster, just gotta get used to it. I caught an 8lb snook on top with a spinning reel before.

Clampy 04-02-2013 09:44 AM

It does awesome. With 10# super slick. Chuck it a mile. I'd rather my BC for it but when I go on road all I bring is the Stradic. Don't know what kind of conditions I will face. Spinning Reel is more Versatile

Clampy 04-02-2013 09:46 AM

Couldn't even see the bait in the Fog for a while this morn.

BassYakR 04-02-2013 09:46 AM

Yeah im in the market for a spinning setup. Just not sure on what i want. Ive bought cheap ones in the past bc i didnt think id like em. And that just made me hate em. But i think im ready to try again.

a cheap spinning rod is the worst. They always have the action of a wet noodle

Waterloo makes a sweet 7'6 also. Just $$$.

BassYakR 04-02-2013 09:54 AM

So what kinda money we talking? For full setup? Im not scared to spend a lil money just not a fortune. Lol i use lews tourney pro reels and duce rods now for my bait cast setups.. Not crazy expensive.. But good stuff.

230$ for the reel. 90 for the rod I use. Waterloo is like 170

BassYakR 04-02-2013 09:58 AM

Thats not too bad... I hoping for around 150 on reel.. And 100 on rod.

You can get the reel cheaper online

meaux fishing 04-02-2013 09:59 AM

If I were you I would spend the money on the rod and by s a shimano symetre for $100 Ive had a few of em for 6 years or so and they have never failed me

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:00 AM

In my experience with spinning reels. Of you spend a lil $$ you won't have complaints

BassYakR 04-02-2013 10:01 AM

Ive learned this lesson on baitcasters for sure also.
