Do You Think Someone::::::>

Will break the Calcasieu Lake record for trout........Just a thought I was reading the story of the guy that caught 11.25lbs....Share your thoughts..;)

Top Dawg 05-02-2012 05:08 PM

No. Since the limit went down to 15 for the guides the growth of our trout has slowed. Lol

calcutta37 05-02-2012 05:50 PM

I think someone will its just a waiting game.

X2. Theres a 12+ out there right now.

Big Kahunaz 05-02-2012 06:20 PM

I think it's possible but not for another year or 2. Trout are getting back to the way it was in the late 90s til 04. 04 was a legit 9-10 pound year!

Asterisk-Rich 05-02-2012 06:32 PM

Bruce Baugh told me that one of his buddies caught an 11.4 and released it. He thought the lake record was over 12...

He told me the story recently. But i think this was a few years back. His buddy was a Texan wading alone.

Pics or it didn't happen , but I caught a 13lber and let it go ..thought record was 15lbs but to get to the question

No...
What brings big trout into a lake???? Abundance of bait....that also brings in lots of small trout. With 15 trout limit you are not keeping the number of small trout down enough that 10-11lbs trout will not come to compete for food, when they can sit offshore and eat at will less competition ..

I believe the ship channel holds some 10 11 and even 12ibs trout in deeper holes but they don't move just sit and eat mullet and shrimp..

When lake limits were 50, and 25 you saw good numbers of 10lb trout and now its almost unheard of these days

This is why ...... You raise the limits back to 25 and I guarantee you have 10lb trout being caught in STAR ,shootouts and events like before .....

But politics figured they want a bunch of small trout and keep the hogs at bay

Asterisk-Rich 05-02-2012 09:13 PM

Dude has more 8+ hanging on the wall than you see in your dreams. I can understand lying about a fish that one personally caught and released but why would you lie for a friend? #comebacktoreality

I know he does been in his house....but let a lake record go.....yea right...I call BS on that
Maybe one caugt upper 10s but who let's go a freaken 11lb trout that will die that day it was letting go

Top Dawg 05-02-2012 09:23 PM

I agree. Limit needs to be back up for big trout. Use to catch 7-8 pound trout on the reg. Haven't caught one over 7 in a while. Sucks. But we all know the guides own big lake and regulate it as they wish. Big lake "Obama" guides lol

I agree. Raise the limits where they should. Use to catch 7-8lb trout on the reg. And that's no lie. I haven't caught one over 7 in a long time.

The story was that one of his friends from Texas was wading BL alone. Caught an 11.4 and thought that the lake record was over 12 so he released it. Bruce said the guy was an exceptional angler and had caught numerous big trout before. I guess when you get to a certain age you forget about putting everything on the wall and just fish because you enjoy it. Obviously you and I aren't there yet because I wouldn't have released it either.

It was not the guides who did that...it was a certain small group of guys who had Zero facts and got the CCA guys to help push it....

When you go catch 60 trout in 30 mins in june ....there is way to many trout

"W" 05-02-2012 09:56 PM

You want facts....just pull up history of the STAR, and Trout shoot out results and look at the drop in size after the limit change

Hell a upper 6 has been winning the shoot out...lord that's weak

But like you've said which is true prolly 80% of the fisherman cant or have never caught a 30 trout limit....

Top Dawg 05-02-2012 10:02 PM

Exactly. Look at the shootout results. I can remember when a 6 pound trout wouldn't make the top 10 or 20. Now 6's are winning it.

That's true but that 20% can only take 1500 instead or 2500 a day ,,,,so add that up
