Thanks guys. Tell your buddies.

I am on GI right now and large tar mats are being picked up daily, east and west of GI. There are more than a dozen 45 ft boats working exposed mats at low tide and recovering and bagging tar mats 12 to 18 inches deep. Even though this has been going on for months, you probably have not heard about that either. Just ask the Tyvek guys at Bridgeside.

Here is what I learned today on the Idle Iron issue. A contractor in this business informed me that approximately 70% of the platforms being killed are cut with explosives vs hydro cutting, saving the operator around $50K (explosives are cheaper) depending on the size of the platform and number and size of the piles. The explosives do result in fish kills. As bad as that is, the real issue is removal of established habitat. I was told 3,800 platforms are scheduled for removal at a pace of 'several hundred platforms' being killed per year. Very few platforms have been reefed ~2%.
