cleaning aluminum hull

I've decided I need to clean my aluminum bay boat. Since I'll be at work for the next 4 weeks I figured I'd do some research to find the best product and ways to go about getting my boat looking better. I've heard about using the acid cleaners and if I go that route do I need to take extra precaution to keep the cleaner off the spray in liner that the inside of the boat is coated with.Do you guys have any tips or products that work well or even products to stay away from. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks once I get it cleaned I'll post up some before and after shots of the boat.

the acid (should not) hurt the liner , but it wouldnt hurt to spray it with a little water if it gets on it.
As far as the aluminum, it will etch it to a degree, making it look a little dull.. clean but a dullish finsh. And this depends on how long you leave the acid on and how s0rtong you mix it. Better to go a little weak and try a spot till you get what you want.
If you want it to shine, aluminum polish, elbow grease, sweat and beer. :)
