Tides when fishing big lake

Still gathering info for my upcoming trip to big lake in October. What should I look for in regards to tides when fishing big lake. Should I fish on a certain tide or would I just need to change tactics with the changing tides. Never fished water affected by the tide before. Also what about fishing the weirs, anything I should know about them. Also should I use a fluorocarbon leader and if so what pound? I know this is a lot but I'm just trying to gather as much info as I can so I can increase my odds of having a successful first trip. Will be there in October, thanks guys I know y'all will help a old crappie fisherman out. Lol

Oct is usually easy fishing , birds are picking and fish are on reefs from mid lake north . Use 10-12lb test with a 20lb flo leader with a 1/8oz jig head

Will I be able to see the reefs. Man, I'm so concerned about running over one and tearing something up.

The reefs are only oysters sticking up maybe 6 to 8 inches, you don't need to worry about those. Just watch depth finder around banks and if you go to west cove
