Cool idea...... Now who wants to come plant me a garden? I love some home grown tomatoes, but ain't got no time fo dat! And to top it off, the damn freezes this year killed my two orange trees. :pissed:

That sucks Matt. My little satsuma trees sure arent looking very happy. Need some eskimo trees for the winter we've been having.lol

Got me some seedlings started, and a healthy dose of the book "square foot gardening". I'm ready for this winter to go

Maters are easy. You really don't need to work very hard at soil prep, weeding, etc. Just pick a sunny spot, put 'em in the ground, and pick when ready. Extra work will make it all prettier and yield more maters, but you'll be suprised how little effort will translate to a regular supply in the kitchen.

We used to do a few hundred plants when we had a small farm business. We sold 'em fresh at a farmer's market and my wife made salsa which we sold for $4 per tub. We used black plastic mulch and wire cages, and I mowed between the rows to make a path to access for picking, but we went pretty light on the labor.

Eventually, the plants will burn out, so you can maintain a steady supply for longer into the fall if you plant a few new plants each month.

Thanks we needed this

I do container gardening with drip irrigation. Last year was my first with
drip and it's the only way to go for me. I also have blackberrys in containers with drip. I plan on expanding my garden this year. I already
have my drip lines up.

I plan on doing a truck patch this year....okra, field peas, egg plants..tomatoes, peppers and probably a few more. Plan on starting the tilling an fertilize this week to be ready to plant.
