Daisy cutter or short barrel?

Anyone have any experience with any of the high end calls not just RNT but all of them. Are they really worth 140 bones? Jag curious on your input too being a call maker!!

specktator 08-03-2011 04:35 PM

I bought a cane duck call from Outdoor Expo for $15 and a woody call for $8 and I love em. Sound twice as good with it as I did with my RNT. I bought a RNT Microhen and it wasn't for me. Sold it to meaux fishing. 2 other buddies have em and love em. Just picky when it comes to my call. Asterisk-Rich has a daisy cutter and it seems like he gave up duck hunting to live in NYC. Maybe shoot him a PM and see if he might be interested in selling it to u.

single reed calls are tough and too loud for down here...a duck has heard every loud azz call coming south

SULPHITE 08-03-2011 04:38 PM

wish you could run the calls before you buy them...

DUCKGOGETTER 08-03-2011 04:39 PM

SULPHITE 08-03-2011 04:58 PM

dr 85 is like the glock of duck calls...but yes Shawn I know your looking for something different that might suite you

SULPHITE 08-03-2011 04:58 PM

I bought a big guys best widowmaker acrylic...sucks. Just not my type. Then my son broke it. sucks.

specktator 08-03-2011 05:02 PM

I hear ya. DR-85 is pretty much all I blow when I am in the blind, but I still end up buying 2-3 different calls and trying them out every season anyway. U boys out there in the Lake Chuck should be blowing those old school "Cajun" duck calls. My buddy has a few of them he got when his grandpa passed away and I love em. Any of u LC guys know where I can find one? The sticker on the one he has says they were made in LC.

I like my microhen... it is the Cocobolo wood one .. not sure I would pay 140 for a call but maybe if I had the extra cash laying around. It was definitely worth what I paid for it

Hopedale Hustler 08-03-2011 05:09 PM

Dr-85 is deff my number 1...I have the short barrel and It stays in my center console....I have a zink PH 2 its my other favorite call...between them two I got all I need...but I'd suggest looking at the Ph 2

Top Dawg 08-03-2011 05:19 PM

Been blowing a dr-85 for 15-16 years. Dats my go to. The best sounding call on the market. My dad gave me a Cajun call when I was little. Wish I could find it. But man dat ting would stick when it got wet.

Micah 08-03-2011 05:31 PM

Wish I could help you out Shawn but never had any high end calls....like everyone else though I use the Dr-85. Maybe I should try something different since apparently they hear the same call for the whole coast of Louisiana.....I do use Duck Commander calls on occasions.

I found my Cajun duck call on Ebay and it was made in Lake Charles. Bootsie begged me for that call and i finally gave it to him and than he gave it to fish.
how messed up is that?
