want to do offshore next summer. what offshore frozen bait do most prefer? how much pounds should an average boat bring?

squid
sardines
pogey

Pogey worked good for us this year on snapper and 25 lb would have been plenty... Too bad I bought 50lb!!!! That was two days of fishing!

Cigar minnows fall apart too easy, in my opinion. And they are very expensive.
I hit the shrimp boats in Cameron and get an onion sack of their culled crap.
Have to ask in advance.
It is usually about 50% or more of Pogy.
On the way out, some of them will let you chunk them a 5 gal. bucket and they
will fill it up for you and lower it back to your boat.

this is what my father-n-law used to do when he fished offshore all the time
