Rainbow trout!

I caught my biggest rainbow to date in North Carolina. It put up a great fight, had me thinking it was a bass until I saw it and nearly sh@* my pants. Anybody know how long it'll keep in the fridge? I caught it Tuesday afternoon and want to bring it back for my mom to enjoy. She doesn't eat frozen fish.

Gut it, wash and pack in ice. Can keep 7 days as long as you keep the water drained.

Thanks guys. I was squeezing that thing for dear life in those pictures. It would have had to come out like through my fingers like spaghetti to get away hahaha. It was 17 1/4", might not be much to some but it's a monster compared to the 8 inchers I've always caught

That's a very nice fish for NC. By September/October in Colorado, almost all the trout are over 16" in some of the reservoirs. They stock 10" trout in late winter and by fall they are 16+" and 2-3 lbs. The ones a year older are 24+" and 5+ lbs.

Thanks MG we always come up to the cabin at a bad time of year for fishing. I might have to try a Sept/Oct trip. I've always wanted to come up and try to hunt black bear as well. So much to do so little time

I'm in Tenn right now. We've been trout fishing the last two mornings and going again this afternoon. Kind of a let down catching fish up here.
