Snapper day 1 of 3

Had Bill Cooper, his son, and 2 daughters for a rig trip. We had no live bait and just used frozen pogies. It was just set up to be a family fun day. They got to the dock a bit late and did not get their license as we had discussed. The attempt to get them on line did not go through. Being it was the Grand Isle tarpon rodeo and the Faux Paux in Venice things were busy so I sent them 6 miles up the road to get them at the store. This was only one of the delays. By the time we got to fishing it was well into the morning. The youngest daughter started out showing everybody how it was done.

Her glory soon went down because right after this beautiful mangrove, which was her 3rd or fourth fish, her stomach did not feel good. If you compare the 2 pictures you can see her going south.

That was the end of her day and she suffered the rest of the day with sea sickness. Her brother and father soon got into the groove and double teamed these vermillion (Mingo) snapper.

The oldest sister was not doing well on the catching part but finally got into the program with a good sized fish on.

It turned out to be a nice red snapper.

We battled some big sharks throughout the day to add to the day's adventures. The bid hardtails were also enjoying our bait offerings. We put up with all the non targeted fish and picked away at the red snapper.

The day ended up with a limit of Red snapper, 6 Vermilion snapper, and, although not a limit on mangrove snapper, we were not able to hang 10 mangroves due to lack of space on Cypress Cove's board.

Life is Good!
Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.
