I am thinking about going wet a line at The Point this weekend in a kayak for the first time... Any info is much appreciated! I was told to put in at the State Park Beach and go in Sharks Bayou...

That would be really good start also continue on into weeks bay. Should be able to pick up sine specs around the trash pile.

Never payed attention to the miles, how far is it from the park to weeks via shark bayou? Big boats didn't give you a problem in shark bayou? They throw some big wakes when the skiers come out.

Yea I passed through shark bayou. Most people are courteous enough to slow down... Only had one boat pass wake boarding. I just turn the nose into the wake. My yak is stable enough that I can paddle through it no problem. You ever seen them boys land a yak on the beach? Now that's a ride!

I've made that paddle many times. Average paddling speed it takes about 45-50 minutes. It's juuuust under 3 miles to get to the bottom mouth entrance of weeks bay.
I use the term paddle bc I PADDLE, I cannot account for how long it would take if u were PEDDLING in a Hobie.

Not as bad as I thought it would be....only bad thing is there is no where to run if a thunderstorm pops up.
|
Heck with all that. I get tired turning the wheel and working the throttle!
That's a long paddle!

Time wise I agree, but I didn't think it was that far distance wise. I don't have a handheld though so I just paddle.

I use google earth to track distances.
Trips up to weeks bay, paddling around, then the trek back can add up. Had trips go between 10-12 miles before.
