Awesome job W. I know you don't like to post where at too much but I'm curious if they moved back up. Say north of old jetties or back into the cove.

Thanks. I keep telling myself I'm gonna throw plastic more and even picked up some mirrolure soft baits this year and finally found some little jons at LCT. Just cant get away from the live bait. I don't care for live shrimp like I did but love throwing mullet under a cork. I do respect how u stick with plastic. Probly think I'm cheating lol. I have some friends that don't allow live bait in their boat. I got em real good in Turners several times after the spring rains washed out. Just before or just after Calcasieu point was able to keep live shrimp for first time this year. I threw just a regular avocado/chartreuse cacohoe and had a blast. Matter of fact that was my first catches of some really nice fish. Anyway Enjoy yalls pics and I see yall out there quite a bit. Just yalls pics says a lot. One of these days I'm gonna go try for some bass, flounder, and reds like yall were on earlier. I used to go up in black bayou just south of refuge and catch them like that. That was some cool pics. I think I even saw u up by casinos 4-6 weeks ago. At the time I thought yall were fishing way up there , and may have been, but then realized clients like to be picked up there. Anyway thanks for reply

It's all about confidence.. I grew up fishing big lake with my dad and we never used lived bait so I'm confident in artificial .

I do sometimes have to get live shrimp it the situation calls for it but not very often ..
U can catch on plastic 365 a year just some are not confident in it or don't know how to present it to be confident

Most guys who fish for big trout in winter time and spring like the challenge of artificial vs soaking bait ..

Just all about what you use too

W you mentioned presentation..
Ive started to branch out and use more plastics, and covering more water in a new spot it helps.
The lil jons seem to be the best, but I struggle with how to present it.
I know it all depends, but typically i have been
letting it hit bottom, and popping it every other reel and letting it sink back til i feel bottom. Am i in the ballpark?
Also, when isee little pogies splashing out of water in bucnhes like somethin chasing them, i would think its better to throw a fish-imitation bait (vs. lil jon which seems like shrimp imitation ?) and keep it swimming steadily close to surface, is this correct?

Bobo23 is the little Jon magician. I count figure it out either thill I I saw him conduct conducting 5 lb trout over his gunnels. Flipping them in like a nuncance red fish. Dude is cooler than the other side of the pillow.

Basically the class he gave me almost looks like he's working a topwater bait. Rod tip low to the water and jerk it in like a jerk bait. I like to pop them up, but he catches more fish than me. Maybe he will chime in.

I work them a few ways and mostly depends on water depth ... Over a reef I use a darting motion like you fish Topwater (said above ) or hard pops ..

Get in deeper water I let sink and use tide to work it and adding short pops with rod ...
Once you catch a few you will know how they want it .. Everyday is different and some days they want it fast as you can or slow off bottom like bass fishing a worm ...
Just have to try different techniques until you know how they are eating

Pfffff..... our buddy Marque is prone to a lil exaggeration. Gotta love him. Catches more than most of us, myself included. Seldom reports.

Waltrip is right. They want it different ways on different days. Some days, I can't work it fast enough. Some days, I barely move it. But, once you figure out what they want, on that certain day, that's their azz. They are hard wired to eat it.

Best thing I ever did, in regards to a Lil Jon was to work one in a pool. Will freak you out, what this thing does with a light jig head and a sharp twitch.

Ok its like this.
exaggeration |igˌzajəˈrāSHən|
noun
a statement that represents something as better or worse than it really is:

Kids and women exaggerate. I use hyperbole, theres a difference. Jesus used hyperbole, its a tool of effective communication.

I went on a report moratorium when I went to California. It got extended when Capt. Pooh Bear told me I had a big mouth. Loose lips sink ships, especially Nautic Stars.

You want a report do you BoBo, They had a big flounder hanging on the ledge at 56. Caught him on a Pink Super spook with time with 9 gulp chartuse mullet. Put one on every barb on dat spook. Hit it like a fat girl eating chili freetos.
