Wanting to set up some decoys with the 150# mono (I think) with the weight that slides up and down...I have seen them before and they don't tangle at all and seem like it would be quicker for picking up.

What do you use and whats worked the best????

I've got all mine with plastic string with lead weight sucks for the pickup...

Railroad spikes tied with tarred nylon string. I hunt the red river and as now the water will rise and fall often. Also the hydrila moves a lot with the wind. If there is not much weight on them the decoys will float off with the weeds.

I used the smallest paper coffee cups I could find, filled with cement and a fence staple in the top. When the cement dries, tear the paper cup off, paint black and tie to decoys with that black tar string
used on shrimp nets.
I had 12 dozen decoys at my blind. I left them out and picked up between splits
and at the end of the season with no issues.
I hunted in salt to brackish water, about 1 ft. deep.
Towards the end of the second split, when the ducks got weary of decoys, I would cut the amount of decoys in half almost every day. By the last couple days, I only had half dozen or so left.
75% of my decoys were pouldoos. The more I added over the years, the better the ducks decoyed.

Tar nylon line, and whatever i can get my hands on

I use old tire weights. Get them free from my local tire shop by the bucket.

I tried that sliding idea a couple years ago. Mine ended up in a big ole knot once carried to the blind.

just some advice...use weed eater string and crimps..its wat i use and its tangle free..

This is what I use to. The only thing is get you some good galvanized fence staples not the ones at your local store. They rust out to easy

I put some crab string on my decoys with a #6 hook and bait with worms. When the catfish bite the hook, it makes the decoys move (the decoys are anchored also).. After the hunt, i puck up my ducks, and bring home a few fish also... No bull****. Works awesome when you have about 4 or 5 docoys dancing around..

When you good like me, you don't need no decoys :smokin: :work:

This would be nice...

YOu can make around 100 weights with a sack of cement that way.
I used good fence staples with the little cuts in them. They don't come
out of the fence or the cement. They also lasted longer than the string.

I use 400lb test mono with 4-6oz lead weights. It's called Texas rigging. Don't even need sacks and the pick up and so much easier. Just walk around and clip the loops on a caribeaner then throw the whole wad in the boat. Look at www.leadertec.com for the mono and crimps. Google SNL corp as well for leader and crimps.

I picked mine up, let dry a couple days and stored them in a poly overpack.
They were perfect the next year.

more like shoot and run to the boat with the ducks :p

i use the same thing with 6oz egg sinkers.
