Left the point around 615 and took my time getting to the reef in northeast corner. Put power pole down around 650. Caught a huge gaftop on first cast. Enough of that so raised pole and drifted up some and caught a trout. Several cast later I caught a couple small trout and sand trout. Around 745 I was surrounded by 3 guide boats. Guess we all had same plan. Wasn't happening there this am so pulled up anchor and headed just to the south and east to drift other reef. Nothing. Water clarity is beautiful but not much tide yet and didn't even get a bite. By 830 I'm in that cut I like to fish. I started off fishing north bank like I usually do and for the 3rd trip in a roll nothing. Just a few rat reds and croakers. Then I thought about how much higher water has been. Over a foot above normal so I trolled to the opposite south bank. This bank is usually too shallow to fish but not today. First cast landed 15" trout. Followed that up with another 8-9 trout and several 25"-27" reds. I released all the redsNow it's around 10 and tide started going out so hard it's started to muddy up some and water was starting to get fresh. Can't believe how hot it is already so decided to head back towards the point. Got to turners and just south and east of island birds are working everywhere. Was curious wat was under them so trolled in and caught another dozen small trout. Catch 3 little pickles then one would keep or be right at or just over 12". Boxed a few that I didn't have to measure and released all the rest. Thought I had a limit of trout but ended up with a dozen trout and one 17" red in the box. Snapped a pic of one of the 25" reds but had to spend a little time reviving it so I didn't take any pics of the others and quickly released them. Too dang hot for October I know that. Back at launch just before 1130 and home for noon. I'm ready for some cooler weather. Fished a few live shrimp, I didn't have many, and avacado with chartreuse tail cacohoe. Had some live mullet but they didn't want anything to do with em. Boxed more off plastic this time. Cooling off and eating some grub then I'll clean em up. Good luck all.

Nice trip. Between Big lake and calcasieu river, the fish aren't safe anywhere.

What do you think about getting Adrian Peterson for your Cardinals?

Unless he gets behind center to throw the ball too , lol. U never know though it only takes one player to pick up the whole team. More of a desperation move if u ask me! Here is pic before cleaning. Didn't realize it but had 4-5 trout as big or bigger than 17" red. Gonna hit again one day this week. Likely Friday or Sunday.

Looks like you're on fire again. And some solid fish in that box. I'm going to have to make a trip soon!
