Well I took the step and fished LIVE bait today:cry::cry:,,,, David Hebert, Cap N D(big Dave) and I were heading offshore this morning....Hebert said DUDE WE NEED LIVE BAIT!!!! Well BIg Dave got the cast net out and make 15,000 cast chasing mullet in the channel....:*****::*****: Get offshore and tide is RIPPING again today.....SO back to the lake we GO....

I told Hebert I was not soaking any live bait unless Big D did 1st....well they both went so I joined.....We had a blast and it was some easy fishing!!! I missed a lot of trout though!!! I did catch a trout on the sand eel today....

Yep...Only thing we caught offshore......Could not sink a 1/2 weight with the tide again today....unreal

Gerald 08-17-2009 07:43 PM

Hey W.....did I give you any of 1 oz jig heads that I made a while back? I also got some big weights for that current.

A friend said that he was going to get me a mold to make some 10 or 12 oz weights for him...... for when that current is ripping.

Tide was ripping yesterday but I anchored up-current and used 2- 1/2oz split shots and managed. The currrent was moving though, and the trout were not on the bottom. But they were stacked up.

Mike I had about 3/4 oz of weights and it was skipping the top. I have never seen that much current. Yes we where on the upside.

Bet I don't hear you complain about "no tide" ever again. :smokin:

Nice fish guys, that tide was ripping when we tried to go offshore yesterday as well...the end of the jetties was rough and a big crew boat gunned the throttle right by us,it got a little hairy. I must say that longcast's 1810 nautic star is probably the best riding 18' bay boat i've ever rode in,and i've rode in alot.

Hey Cap'nD, those big rippin tides should move the lake a bunch and help re-activate it don't you think? On the live bait issue, a good fisherman adapts to what is working. So for those who don't use ive never, you are missing out on some fish when that is all they want. Hell, we would all rather not have to use it but there are times when it is what they want.
