Lake Cataouatche

Has anyone ever fished this lake me and some friends were thinking of taking a trip heard there are some big bass in there any input would be appreciated.

Good Luck.

The grass has not grown to where it's matted over like years past. There's one small patch of grass in the middle of the tanks ponds right now. The fish have been scattered out chasing bait so you'll have to stick and move.

Be careful not to run past the wall on plane. The water has been low with the north winds and the tank pond is full of stumps.

KVD won the bassmasters classic fishing it. They catch nice sac aux lait out of there too.

Is the Pier 90 launch open?

LPfishnTIM 03-12-2012 11:08 PM

I've fished it a few times, the reports are nothing like they were the last two years.

Its not an easy place to fish for me. Some people have good luck back there, but i have never had a very successful trip. Tnere are some big fish in there, but since they spayed the grass the fishing has slowed down. Where are you planning on launching from?

Lake Cat

It's kinda hit or miss to me. First time I went there about 5-6 years ago we killed the bass in the middle of the summer in the grass. That was my best trip. I didn't go last year b/c I figured the pressure would be even worse after KVD won the classic there. During the spawn there is incredible pressure on the fish. There will be 50 + boats behind the walls in the tank ponds and it's not that big of an area. Spawn is about over though so the pressure should drop off.

I like to go in the summer, punching the grass!

while there try the gulf canel's. Its in the northwest of the lake,I've been pulling some nice ones from there.Best when the wind lay's down and water clear's as the lake has been muddy

Pier 90 has opened back up. The new flood gate is open now. Hope you have a 4wd truck. That parking lot gets sloppy after it gets wet.

youu_whoo_whoo 03-13-2012 07:45 PM

launch at bayou segnette then, its a dollar per person and that wont be a far run at all in a bass boat

coby123 03-16-2012 08:04 AM

sorry

We didnt catch any fish we had 2 boats and fished in the tank ponds, in the lake itself, and in the canal along the restricted area in the wma.
