Grand Isle Thanksgiving

We are headed to GI with the whole family for Thanksgiving. It'll be 8 adults, -'d 10 kids ranging from 2 to 18. I have a few questions, so I'll just fire away.

1. Will we still be able to get shrimp off the boats that late in the season? If not, what is our best option for a shrimp boil?

2. Can you still catch crabs on the beach jetties, or roadside that late in he year?

3. I had no luck on the beach this summer, but nailed the trout and several other species off the pier. What is running on the beach, or under the pier in late November?

I know these answers can vary due to weather and other things. Just looking for general ideas. Thanks!

Check this place out. Was down there for the Federal Red Snapper season and bought some beautiful shrimp that was caught same day. Best prices around.

Grand Isle is super in the fall.
Here now and the weather has been perfect. Fish biting on the outgoing tide. We have been throwing mainly topwaters and soft plastics. Solid specs and reds.

Got 20lbs of 16-20 shrimp at the Blanchard dock today - $4.00 / lb. Take LA 1 past Sureway, then left on Oak, then right at the 4 way stop. End of the road. Bring your ice chest.

On crabs: try Coastal Bait on LA 1. Mr Al always has had quality crabs -
and shrimp too when he is shrimping. Call them to reserve the crabs.

Also if you want a few dozen boiled and ready to go - Camardelles does a great job. Call them to reserve your crabs. They are well seasoned choice crabs.

Good luck.

If you want to take the kids crabbing. try elmers island canal. when you turn onto the property you can start crabbing right there in the canal. if the current is to strong drive down maybe 1/2 mile and there are some islands that will block some of the tide. If you are not catching keep moving and trying both sides of the road,

Awesome. Thanks for all of the tips. Does anyone know when commercial shrimping ends in Louisiana? If that is before Thanksgiving, is there anywhere down there to still get reasonably priced shrimp?

Fall inside season usually runs till December so you should not have any trouble finding shrimp.
