Sober Reminder

Guys, pray for the families of three lost people on the Maurepas Blind river area.We were out there yesterday all day and on the way home from Manchac, there were rescue boats everwhere.

apparently, five individuals stopped to swim, left the motor running. When the last person jumped out the boat, his clothing caught the throttle launched the boat in gear and ran over four, one was uninjured, one rescued at the sight three still missing, two girls one young man.

NEVER let up on safety in or on the water!

Been going there my entire life.
Have a camp right at Petit Amite and Blind River. We are up there in the family area.
Get to the lake early or late. 10-4 is not the best time out there.
I think these folks just had a genuine freak accident.

genuine freak accident? they went swimming with their motor running and no one in the boat

simplepeddler 05-30-2010 04:10 PM

yea I see your point.
What I was hoping to convey was that, at least so far, alcohol had not been mentioned.

When something like this happens there are tons of "innocent" people throwing stones.
Bottom line is three young people are missing.

FF_T_Warren 05-30-2010 05:02 PM

yea I see your point, just young people not using good judgement, which we have all done

terrible...

I used to go up there, not any more. Sorry to hear, but that is just STUPID to leave the boat running while people are in the water. All of my life, when we're pulling tubes, knee boards, whatever, if there are people in the water, the motor is shut down. When we're dropping someone off, the motor is off until they swim away from the boat at least 15'.

Complacency is a killer. Sad to hear that these young folks lost their lives for something so avoidable.
