motor troubles again
i got one for yall.... my old 76 70 horse evinrude sounds like it wants to bog down when i take off... sometimes itll take off fine... gotta winch it on the trailer every time. get it out the water start it and gooose it and shell go. but in the water under load it has problems. could it be a high speed jet? cleaned a good bit of trash out of the fuel pump.

could be the floats sticking. our old yammy was doin that last year and after running it a good bit it finally started acting right. but that could be caused by other stuff too
|
Sounds like crap in the carb. If it was in the pump carb definitely has it
|
all it takes is a little bit in the carbs to mess with it right?

Sometimes the jets are not completely plugged. You can still see light thru them.
This is when it is misleading. Be sure that you use some cleaner to soften it up and something to clean it out. After the varnish sticks to the side and gets hard, it will not come out without some kind of help form some kind of small wire, pin or tip cleaner. Just use the smallest you have first. And brush the varnish off of everything. Try to leave nothing in the carb to plug up any ports or jets later. |

I had a motor that had similar symptoms & turned out to be a blown head gasket. It idled fine but bogged down under a load. I hope this isn't your problem. (check plugs for moisture after you run it for a minute) |
