Just inflamed joints and tendons? Just rest it and maybe some NSAIDs. What'd they give you a steroid pack?

I'd just take ibuprofen and maybe get a wrist splint and wear it for a few days to take pressure off it and stop moving it

FF_T_Warren 06-02-2010 10:56 PM

It just needs rest. The more stress put on it, the worse it's gonna get/ the longer it's gonna take to get better. Same thing as tennis elbow. Like I said rest and ibuprofen or the like

All joking aside, my wife works for a hand surgeon and says its inflamed tissue from using your (pole) too much. She said if stereroid pack does not help get a cortisone shot, if that does not help surgery.

Jo-boater 06-03-2010 07:27 AM

I have had this several times when I used to work at Fruit of the Loom. We used to treat it with Ibuprofen because your tendons are swolen and Ibuprofen usually helps the swelling go down faster. At the mill we would also had a treatment program that seemed to work pretty well. The first day we would ice the area down for about 5 minutes then massage the bottom side of your wrist in a crossways pattern for about 5 minutes. We would do this about 4 times during the day. The next day instead of using ice we would use a heating pad for the same time. It is a little bit of a tedious task but after 3 - 5 days everything would be fine and no surgery or steroids would usually be needed. It would usually feel pretty good for the next 3 - 6 months. But if you kept doing the same repetitive motions, eventually it would begin to hurt again. I am not a doctor but this was something we spent a lot of time trying to get something to work because almost all our work over there was repetitive motions. Hope it gets well soon.

You are married 'W' let the wife take care of the hand action. Ha Ha!

The wrist has a oval/circular bone area that the nerves and tendons pass through for the hand. The oval/circular area is lined with a soft membrane to prevent the bone surface from rubbing on the nerves and tendons. This membrane lining gets swollen and it squeezes the nerves and tendons leading to pain in the wrist area. If the swelling and pain persists or re-occurs often, then the better fix is a simple wrist surgery.
