ok, trying to broaden our fishing area knowledge
 

My mom is bout to drive me nuts. She wants to go try fishing in delacroix or cocodrie. First off are these places open? second off how hard are they to learn? Can some folks point me in the right direction as to which place would be better to hit, or maybe even dularge. can you guys help me out with some leads and pointers before she drives me nuts?

I believe most of Cocodrie is closed. Check out LDWF site for this info. Never fished the other area. May try your luck at Vermillion Bay or P-Train.

well im all for ptrain, Im goin next friday. I have basically devoted myself to learning the ins and outs of lake p. My parents on the other hand haven't had a good trip there yet so they hate it. They want to learn some other areas.

yea pretty sure cocodrie is closed, i think anything south of Robinson canal is closed

Delacroix is pretty good. Last time I went we did real well on bass and reds in sight of the launch.

Lake Pontch is doing well but stacked with boats with the closures

When Cocodrie opens up again you can usually catch trout this time of year by anchoring on the upcurrent side of any of the well-heads in Terrebone bay or Barre, and just cast plastics into the structure.
I would say for you to come over to the vermilion bay but it is hit or miss on the trout this time of year, and they have a ton of boats on the areas that have the fish.

delacroix is good fishin...but not now. the cypheon is flowin thru there now and its mississippi muddy..... stay in hopedale. fish the rocks and bay eloi. ull catch fish ad stay outta oil and trouble.:work:

You could hit the DU............long ride to the rigs, bout 65 miles round trip, but there are trout out there.........May go soon........snapper and trout, all in one trip!!

so its lookin like hopedale is the place to go. any pointers on the area and places to launch

I usually kayak fish hopedale. I like the mouth of Hopedale lagoon, mrgo rocks, and the surrounding marsh. Never have to go far there for a mixed bag

we usually launch out of Breton sound marina, fish the marsh across from there down the spoil canal, fish the rocks, you can fish lake borne. bay eloi, biloxi marsh, magnolia lagoon, stump.

plenty of places to hold fish, esp right now

was just listening to Louisiana sportsmen radio and the guide on there said they have been wearing them out in lake borne out of the wind. and bay eloi

Hard heads on the fly are a blast.

Not as much fun in the kayak though. Had a nasty stingray about 3 weeks ago I thought about trying to keep my hook from until the tail came up and slapped over the side of the kayak. Cut line after that!

I have never caught a hard head on the fly i was trying to be a smart arse. I can imagine when you get up close and personal with a ray that is a not a real good feeling.
