I read on a post before to rub banana peels all over it. I dont remember if it was inside or the outside. But the guy swore it worked and a few others said they had done it before and it really worked

Ivarest works pretty good.....or try some alevara from the plant itself, If really bad... best thing is just go get a shot from your doctor.

WORKS

But ya smell funny.
draw a hot bath and put 2 cups clorox in the tub .Climb in and submerge your arms stay in the tub till the water gets cold.
the bleach dries out the poison ivy . may take two tries but it does work.

If any of this works, let me know.

Highly allergic. I have to go to the doc and get a steriod shot and a medrol (sp) dose pack (more steriods) this clears it up in about 4 days or so.

I don't think a "hot bath" is recommended. I think the hot water will spread the poison (oil) and could make it worse. Warm water is ok.

Benidrill (sp ?) should help reduce the itching. If it is bad.....go see a doctor. My wife had to get a shot and take some steroid pills for ~ 2 weeks when she got poison Ivy a couple of years ago.

its gettin pretty bad now, i was tryin to avoid goin to the doc, but i may have too. i will try the bananna peels tomorrow and see if it helps. already tried the bleach, and i think if i had just a little of it some of these things i've been doing would work, but i'm just wrapped up this time.

Read up on how to do the banana peels. I read to use the inside of the peel and do it a few times a day for a few days

Dr. gave my wife some cream and a mild nerve pill to calm the skin irritation.
She decided to stop using the pills after the red went away and woke up with red
and itching again.
Dr. said to use the cream and pills till they were all used up.
Neither of us remember the name of the pills.

Zanfel only works within like 2 hours... Just go get the shot... Burns like heck but definently worth it. The bleach thing usually works for me.... I always get the shot asap

Feesherman 06-09-2010 08:18 AM

None of those home remedies will work. Your best bet is to go to the Doc and get the shot. I am a professional poison ivy getter and I have tried everything. Just go to the Doc.

x2....you won't regret it.;)

Just go to the Dr and pay the $20 copay and get the shot. You'll waste days trying all the bogus junk that don't work, only to find that if you had gone to the Dr first it would all be over by now.

Asterisk-Rich 06-09-2010 08:35 AM

i use bleach and it wortks everytime!

longsidelandry 06-09-2010 09:17 AM

If it's bad I would drink beer til it stops itching but if it's REALLY bad I would jump on the Crown and not stop til it goes away. lol

I usually just put Benadryl on it and that usually takes care of it for me but I've never had it real bad, just a few spots here and there.

might wanna try some tea tree oil...it doesn't smell that great, very strong, but helps heal all kinds of skin irritations including poison ivy and definately helps with the itching...:D

Poison Ivy

You won't regret your doc visit. Steroid shot and a scrip ointment called Temovate worked for me--especially the ointment.
