Looking at A Haynie

I am looking at ordering a new Haynie. Any one on here have one or ever fished in one? Looking at either the 23 or 24 ft model but not the low side version.

Any feedback appreciated!

I fished out of W's before. It ran pretty dang good in choppy water for a light boat.
Lots of room, big casting deck.
I am just not a big fan of boats with lots of wood in them. But that is just my preference. That was the only drawback I saw in the Haynie that I didn't like.
Other than that, it was a great boat.

I like em, but prefer the liner.
I can tell u that fishin out of it is great!!
Huge front deck!!
Lots of floor space too, not crowded bc of the small console.
We ran 100+ miles n the gulf in 3 ft chop then 5 ft rollers.... Always felt safe.
The hull is solid and the storage is great!!
Only things I would add
rear seating
true rod storage
pop up cleats
box in console (storage)
:)

I have the Z21....Best damn Boat I ever been in....I Love it...

Dry ride...Your not getting wet in this boat unless the winds are 20mph and your cutting side seas .....then its only the wind pushing water off the splash that might get you wet......DRY DRY BOAT

Handles any chop.... I can run 50 in a 2ft chop easy....45 in 3ft.... 64 light chop....

I put the 8ft deck on mine.....

it got up to like 85K ???

cmdrost 06-09-2010 08:42 AM

I've been on the 24HO a bunch. Big boat, roomy, comfy, fast. The 23 is the tunnel option. I'd stay away from the tunnel IMO.

The z21 W has is the best option IMO, still plenty big & just as fast and more fuel efficient when ran properly ;)

Bill G. has a 23 Bigfoot and it runs about 55 top end. I think he has the 2 1/4 opti

Tunnel costs 5+ mph easy. I would vote for the 24 HO with race seats.

85 k is a joke, they run around 40K

i like the aluminum work on this rig, pretty sure the 225 gets better mileage than the 250. I'm not sure you lose much speed between the 24 and 21 with the same power either, only to gain ride.
