virus software

Looking for a good antivirus software. My wifes laptop has something in it and Norton will not pick it up. Some sites will not even open up and it is going SLOW. I just got a new Toughbook for work and plenty of money in software is going to go into this thing. Which software have you techys had luck with. Thanks in advance

If there is a virus on it already you need one that will run a boot time scan. This means it will scan the whole computer before windows starts. I use avast which is free but there is also a paid version

Virus Software

I have had good service form Kaspersky. After getting hosed and losing everything on my hard drive the computer gut recommended them. I buy the private license that covers up to three computers.

Het B,
if you don't have it also load malwarebytes and run it . alot of stuff i've been seeing is malware and norton and mcafee won't pick them up.

Try this.

If you get internet at home through cable or dsl, most of the providers will give you licensed versions of mcafee or norton for free. If mcafee, be certain to load the latest version of 'stinger' and run that after mcafee does an initial scan.

If that fails, drop that sucker in your favorite fishin' hole and go get you a mac.

I use Avast and I also removed everything Macafee or Nortons related. I also use Foxfire instead of IE. I noticed a huge change in problems, freeze ups, spam and all the other BS.

I try to download avast and a popup shows" your security settings will not allow you to download" I have never changed anything and just started to get this on any download of anything including just regular files. Any ideas what this may be?
