sleeping while working weird hours

Can anyone please tell me what helps them to get some sleep after being up all day and night. I have been having trouble falling asleep in the daytime after having been up for more than thirty hours. I feel like crap and really wish I could sleep.

About the only thing I found that helps me get to sleep when that happens is to just sit in my chair and turn on the tv. I'll usually only sleep about an hour or two then when I wake up I'll go in bed or lay on the sofa and go back to sleep.

melatonin, valarian root capsules.

dude, get a prescription of ambien...that stuff will knock your socks off!
or get a script of Lunesta, it is a non narcotic and it does the trick!

Time. When I go on nights, the first few nights are TOUGH! Dark your room out as much as possible. My first week of that crap, I usually only sleep about 3 hours a day and, it's not quality sleep. After that, I start 5 or so hours and do pretty good with that.

There's still nothing better than sleeping at night though!

When I work nights, I use Tylenol PM or Advil PM.
I tried Ambien and Ambien CR. They didn't work any better than the Tylenol or Advil PM.
I have tried Melatonin alone, but that didn't work well at all.
I sleep the same amount of time as when I don't take anything, but I just sleep a lot harder when I take something.
I can't seem to find anything that makes me sleep past 12 or 1 o'clock.

i am allergic to the stuff that starts with a D in tylenol pm, benedryl, motrin pm, and advil pm. it wires me up and i have leg spasms. it sucks *** not to be able to take anything but a cript, but the script works.

It makes me feel hung over for a couple hours also, but it works.
One of my doctors said that there are studies being done to find a drug for
shift workers. I told him I am a Guinea Pig. I'll try it out.
The older I get, the harder it is to work nights.
