Good way to not loose an anchor
 

Well I lost an anchor out in Breton Sound this past weekend so i decided to look at new ones online to see if there was a better option. Well in my search i found a way to rig an anchor so you can un-stick it. here is the link... http://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-...-rig-pics.html

Do yall think this would actually work?

Any other anchor suggestions... will the grapple type anchors hold on a mud/sand bottom?

idk but ive lost a Sh** load of anchors in breton sound rig fishing , last time me and lucas went out we lost his cousins anchor, i just use a rig hook now if its rough and cant use the trolling motor , the claw ones work good cuz you can usally bend one of the claws straight id it gets hung . or it the current aint to bad just swim down and see whats holdin it up

Rig hook is where its at! Get one with a rubber shock absorber,well worth the money.

yeah i need one of them too... but i was on the upcurrent side of the rig and needed to use the anchor

Bend 1" stainless tubing into a large hook with & eye welded on the end with bungee cord doubled over works great for rig hook;)
also weld an eye on top outside of the bend with 3/8 rope attached to pull it loose;):rolleyes:

I lost an anchor in the Ms river (Venice) in about 20 feet of water. No telling what it was hung on.:confused:

Bob, I make them grapple style anchors. Get ya a piece of 3" casing about 18" long and some of those small galvenized bars used for chain length fence and cut them about 10" and weld it to the casing and fill the casing with concrete and paint it black with rust-o-leum paint. I take a piece of exhaust hanger and weld it to the other end and get me a shackle and about 4' of galvenized chain. That's my back-up anchor. Saves u from spending $90 on one at academy. You can bend the galvenized grapples easier than the aluminum

No.......in the river itself.....bout a 100 yards north of the jump, probably a steel cable, busted concrete........really aint telling in there! May have been a sunken barge.
