Hopedale 10-10-10!

Well, Dad and I went to Hopedale today. We got there LATE!!! 11am to be exact. We headed out the opposite direction of what we did last time and the water was ripping by the time we launched. Pox had suggested a couple of different ideas to try out so we gave it a shot looking for the reds. We couldn't have bought a red today for reasons that I don't know. Dad did slam an 18.5" flounder while we were over that way and I caught a keeper spec.
We decided to try the MRGO dam and had no success there so, we headed back to the only water I have ever fished there. We decided to anchor for a few and dad started bustin my arse! I figured I'd just hold the net for the rest of the day. I finally got on a few but most were illegal or too close to call. We drifted a couple of more reefs and ended the day with 7 solid specs(3 over 18") and that doormat that Dad caught. All in all, a good day. I wish we had headed out earlier. Beautiful weather and calm, calm wind until around 3:30. Still wasn't bad then. Poppin corks and Gulp were still the biggest winner although, I did pull one illegal with a Sand Eel Jr. Attachment 15645 Attachment 15646 |
