Getting my Captain's License
Just purchased the coursework I need to get my Captain's License. I will be taking the test December 5th. I am pretty pumped I will be able to take people out to do what I love so much, fly fishing Louisiana's beautiful marshes. I am going to be booking trips on the weekends only for now. I am not foolish enough to quite my job. Hopefully, I will be ringing in the new year as a captain!

You just study the material and take a test or do you have to attend classes?
|
You'll do fine if you study. The test isn't difficult.
If you're taking the exam on Dec 5th, you may be ready to go by Feb. The coast guard isn't exactly quick when it comes to issuing your license. They'll tell you 4-6 weeks, but expect 6-8. Have you taken your drug test, physical and CPR & First Aid? Getting that done prior to your test will speed things up as well. Good luck! |
