Marsh Closest to Baton Rouge

Hey all,
I'm a newbie and got the fever a month ago when I started going down to Delacroix and catching some reds and specks. Can anyone point me to any place (marsh) closer to Baton Rouge where I can get the same or better fishing. That 2 1/2 hour drive can get old in a hurry.

Welcome to the site... Lake P is closer other than that everything is at least 2 hrs away from BR

Lake Charles is 2 hours to the west. 20 more minutes and you can get to Big Lake.

We have some very good fishing over here.

if your new to saltwater fishing or fishing in general id say hopedale , it takes me 1.5 hrs to get the from br i just dont see how it takes you2.5hrs to get to delacroix maybe you drive like ASR from this site:*****: anyways hopedale would be the closest and easiest to fish for a beginner. you can also hit the bridges in pontchatrain right now ...just forget anything you have learned about shallow water trout fishing and pretend you are deep water bass fishing with a plastic worm slow slow slow feel anything set the hook

Chef pass, lake borgne , lake Catherine.... All have marsh and alot of cuts, sloughs to fish.
Easy areas to learn and good fishin.

pearl river, I've been catching everything and its a lot closer to baton rouge then hopedale and delacroix, but I rather drive to catch more then gamble wasting my time somewhere I might not catch fish!
