New tv issues.....

So after lookin for my 2 big tv I landed on a 55" led LCD 1080p 120 hz insignia. My buddy has one and it was awsome to view. So I went to best buy and talked to the fellas there. They all agreed that it was a great tv and the sale price was nice also.
So I bought it tonite....
Here is my issue.
When I start up my ps3 the screen says 1080 p and it's crystal clear.... Then when the intro to ncaa 2011 starts the screen displays a 720p image and the clarity goes away....
Also the surround sound is supper static......

My new LG does not do this.....
So any ideas??

try changing the picture settings on the tv. from sport-cinema or what not...fixed the problems my friend was having with his xbox pic quality on a vizio.

Tried changing stuff on tv setting and ps3..... Still switchin from 1080 to 720 when I play the ps3.
Direct tv ain't been installed yet so can speak as to that... And all the movies are n boxes at old house still..... Guess I'll try more n the am.... Then call the " geek squad"

are you sure you're selecting the correct HDMI input on the TV?

Hdmi from ps3 goes into Hdmi 2 slot.... Hdmi 2 slot is highlighted and selected on tv.
Got the surround sound hooked up right now, forgot I had a rocketfish cord that runs from ps3 to surround system.
