I carry one in my offshore boat as a safety item. If you ever lose power in heavy seas, it will keep your bow into the wind and waves.

I use mine for drift fishin' of the wind is a bit much. Most people 'round here just use a bucket.

I use mine the same, it keeps you over the fish longer when the wind is howling.

If you ever fish w/ someone that knows how to use drift socks .you would have 2 of them.
They can set up on a line and use the drift socks to controll the speed and direction of a drift .
I fish hopedale w/ a guy from up north that can steer the boat like he's got a trolling motor.
