East Baton Rouge Sherriffs

So I'm going to Precision Firearms today, and "get lost". I get followed by a EBRSO and I don't put my blinker on to turn at a stop sign (last second decision). Get pulled over, cop sees my pistol in its holster (unloaded), puts his hand on his weapon, tells me to get out and place my hands on the tailgate and searched me. Took my pistol, ran the numbers (came back clean) and gave it back. He asked me where I was going with it and I said Precision Firearms (100 feet away). He asked what I was going there for. I said to go fishing. He looked pissed and just gave me a strongly worded vebral warning and walked back to his car. Oh, did I forget to mention he was ex Army.

Btw aren't you like 17? What are u doin with a handgun anyways??

So what is the deal about being X-army. I am very proud of being a former soldier.
I actually went through my training when I was 17 years old in the army and earned my wings going through jump school at 18 years old.
Actually got a nice scar running down the middle of my stomach been there done that a marine carried me out.
Where's your wings don't see them?
I don't even see stripes to atleast call you a private?

My squad saved a few marines tails in combat. The marines, navy, airforce returned the favor also works both ways. When a bullet flies army, marines, navy, airforce don't mean anything saving your A**and others A** is the name of the game. Seen too many people die which includes marines that were stationed working with my company to hear crap like x-army from a punk. I never will call a Marine a jarhead I respect them just like airmen or women and sailors.

For a young kid that hasn't been in training that runs around thinking he is a marine and putting down the army that really sad. Until you actually go to bootcamp and I believe your combat school you are not a marine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The officer was probably trying to do his job!

Red Devil 02-16-2011 10:29 PM

Classless statement there Iron Man. The officer was just doing his job, and if you so happen to see combat in the middle east, and someone has a gun and you have no idea what they are about to do with it, you'll realize what he was doing. As a former Marine, I don't give a damn what branch of service someone has served in. We are all brothers and sisters when it comes to defending this great country. Maybe once you get a few years of service under your belt, you'll realize that. Semper Fi

it's legal under certain circumstances, just not purchase or CC.

http://www.atf.gov/publications/down...f-i-5300-2.pdf

why did you let him search you?

Dink 02-16-2011 11:14 PM

Its always the same questions....
Where you headed.......
Reply- what business is that of yours?

There any weapons in the vehicle??
Reply- again, what business is that of yours?

Can I search your vehicle??
Reply- nope, That's a private vehicle

Sure there are probably better ways of going about it, but I'm tired of cops on power trips.......

LPfishnTIM 02-16-2011 11:44 PM

Thats what he is trained to do, and there is more than one thing to do at precision firearms, you can go shoot, you can buy a gun etc. I got pulled over three weeks ago, first thing I did was tell the officer I had a gun in the vehicle after he told me to get my license, registration and proof of ins. I didn't tell him for his safety, I told him for mine! I don't want a nervous officer pulling his gun on me because he doesn't know me and is in fear for his life! I can't stand people who treat officers with disrespect, you never know when your in a situation and it will be the same officer who comes and helps you regardless of how you treated him, why? cuz its his Job. I've always appreciated the boys in blue, I went to school and got a degree in criminal justice and volunteered my time at a police department for a while, spent many hours in a police car observing people driving, drug deals, etc. the job isn't always easy and it doesn't pay well, your trained not for if something happens but when it happens and things happen! Every officer has one goal at the end of the day, and that is to be able to go home ALIVE! If that is my goal, I'd have my hands on my gun asking you questions too!

LPfishnTIM 02-16-2011 11:50 PM

btw officers can do a legal search for there safety.

LaAngler 02-16-2011 11:58 PM

Vehicle carry and transportation: Louisiana has no law covering firearms inside motor vehicles. In Louisiana your vehicle is considered an extension of your home so the castle doctrine also applies while inside your motor vehicle. Since there is no law, anyone who can legally possess a firearm can carry a loaded firearm inside a vehicle. It can be in the glove box, console, under the seat, or anywhere else in the vehicle.

as long as it's not in plain sight, it's not a threat to the officer during a routine stop.

meaux fishing 02-16-2011 11:58 PM

next thing you know people will start asking for free guns... ;)cause theirs got taken away:smokin:

true, you can also carry a firearm as long as it isn't concealed without a concealed carry permit in louisiana, it might cause complaints and scare people but it is legal!
