Here are some pics of my garden to be after finally finishing my rows. I have made them 3 times due to me changing my mind on row spacing, final outcome is 11 rows 55' long with 2 rows 25' long for potatos( first pic). I plan on covering my potatos one time which is why there are only markers( white pipe for white taters and orange for red) and not rows yet. Decided to space my first two rows out 5'ish and the rest 2-3'. Wider rows will be for squash and tomatoes mainly. Remaining will be green beans, lima beans, cucumbers, okra, peppers( jalapeno, sweet and hot bannana, bell and cayenne) and 3 rows of corn. I also plan on making a watermelon patch but have not decided on where yet. I also included a pic of my tractor set up that i used to do all this with.

No testing here, never have, i hit it with some triple 13 and plant it and see what comes up, will also be adding a lil chicken manure to my rows then turning that over

My 16 month old likes to play in it with me so needless to say WE enjoy it and the wife loves the fresh veggies, and so does the rest of the family. I'm sure i'll be giving my fair share away!!

Weeds aren't as big a problem as preserving, but I'll be sure to let you know when I'm tired of picking and you can come and get all you want. Hey if it gets to be too much work I'll hit it all with the disk and call it a yard again!!

Nice looking garden. The rows are a little off straight.:D That new holland have a beer holder?
Hope your yield is plentiful. Does a man good to know he can feed his family from what he plants.

NICE Shawn. I am leaving for home today. Will be tilling mine next week. Do you ever go to the Bayou Gardner web site? You should check it out. Lots of nice people and good into there.

Hebert 03-01-2011 12:55 AM

Wow, that looks nice.

I wish I had that much room........well maybe I could take up more of my yard.

Squash plants take up lots of room........suggest 5' or more between rows. You never know which direction the plant will grow. Main part of plant will grow to 3' or longer and then the leeves are huge.

Shawn Braquet 03-01-2011 07:56 AM

Imakeoil, I'll have to check into that site, i havent been able to find a good gardening site;hebert, i did everything you see with just the disc and row maker and my weedeater cultivator;Gerald, in my winter garden i only gave 3' between rows and it wasn't big enough so i spread them out more this time

B careful with the chicken Shat, it will burn yo plants if you use too much.
Dad buys it by the ton but it has to cure for months before use since it is so hot.
