Need a little advice.

Took the girlfriend to shoot Skeet today (first time she's every been around guns) and she loved it. My 12 gauge was a bit too long for her to handle comfortably [insert thats what she said]. It wasnt too powerful for her but id like to look into getting her something that would be a little more comfortable.

What ya'll got ya'lls wives and GFs?

Should I look at 20 gauges or would I be better off finding a youth 12?

my mom shoots a regular 20ga and has no problems...and shes pretty week so she should be comfortable just with a lil lighter gun

Well... shawn braquet bought his wife a sbe2 and let's just say he uses it the most..(I think its a tad to Much kick for her too, seen during our last dove hunt lol) so just buy a sbe so you can use it

I have the Urika 2 in 20 guage for my wife and my son.
He has been shooting it for three years now.
He is a smaller kid just now hitting over 90 lbs. The gun is just awesome piece.

An auto is the way to go as well the energy it uses to eject the shell softens to felt recoil.

SoggyRedNeck 03-31-2011 10:14 PM

Super black is Not what I had in mind for "her" first gun. Lol.

I have to admit, watching her try and catch her balance after each shot was kinda funny. I bought a few boxes of 2n3/4 cheap shells and I brought a mixed bag of shells from this season. I had to stop her from loading a 3n1/2. That would have been hilarious.

simplepeddler 03-31-2011 10:17 PM

That is why I love the thing......it is "thier" gun, but I get to use it when they are not around.......of course T-bic the wonder boy is like a lab when the tailgate goes down when he sees that gun in the truck, he jumps right in........

So now it's time for a new one for me.......

I suggest you "borrow" a 20 ga and have her shoot it next time you go.

Also get some shells that are "light" target loads.

I shoot a Benelli 12 gauge and the fiance can shoot it, but like you said it's not comfortable for her ........ got her a youth model 20 gauge auto and she loves it.

choice is obvious.

get whatever gun you want, make her shoot it, if she doesnt like it/cant shoot it,

you have a new gun

SoggyRedNeck 04-01-2011 10:18 AM

Yak'em you right. But you know how big of a difference in body size and arm length were talkin bout. She ain't gonna fall for that. Plus I've got my brownin gold and my old faithful benelli. I'm set for now. I just want something cheap for her to play around with.

yak'em-n-stack'em 04-01-2011 10:52 AM

You can throw that browning and benelli in the trash and get a mossberg. Not the turkey one you have but a duck gun. You know one that won't jam if it's too humid.

Mine has been sitting dirty in the case since the last day of the season. Took it out the other day and shot it.

No problem

So that with another gun

20 gauge over and under, they're great

YAK, I remember that day we hunted.....the whole time you were looking at my SBE2......;)
However, I do agree with you on throwing the BROWNING in the TRASH.
You can pick up a cheap/but good 20 ga auto for less than 500 bucks.

I would have picked the gun up, loaded it with 3 shells and shot him for doing that to his gun.

Oh.....I thought your friend tied it to the dog to show you how tough the gun was. I was referring to shooting the friend, not the dog. Lol.
