Opinions
Guys looking for some opinions on good mid range priced bay boats. Sold my old Mako Cuddy Cabin, now looking for at least a 21' CC bay boat and can't decide which brand to go with. Looking at Nautic Star and Mako's. Any input would be appreciated.

Mako isnt what it used to be. Id go with the nautic star,
|
I have the nauticstar 1810. I love this boat. I think it's the best riding 18 ft boat out there. The best boat for the money. That's just my opinion. I live in lake Charles. If you want to go take a ride just let me know. Btw I don't ride. I fish and ride on the way to the spot. Lol. Just let me know if your interested.

haynie Z21 :help: OR
blazer bay 2170, skeeter 20, pathfinder 22, etc... on and on..... |
I just got a quote from the blazer bay dealer in raceland. 2170 150 yamaha 4stroke. tyrolling motor dual bank charger seats hull color alumni trailer. Tandom axles. $28800 is the quote he gave me.
|
get a frontier 210 or 2104 (fully capped version). Made by Kenner.
|
I got the 21' nautic star and really like it.
|
If you're looking for a family style boat then the Blazer Bay would be hard to beat. If you're looking for a pure fishing machine then I would take a hard look at the Haynie Z21. (IMO)
All of the boats mentioned are great boats. Really boils down to what fits your eye, budget, warranty options, etc. |

Spend the extra $$$$$$$$$$ and buy the larger motor, fuel economy, speed, and resale value will more than compensate for the additional cost.;)
|
yep....highly recommend at least a 200 on any 21 ft Frontier, Blazer Bay, nautic, etc....
|
Too small of a motor will work it harder, not get the lifespan out of it like a bigger one.
It is best to go with the max recommended horsepower, unless you are just putt putting around. My boat came with a 115 or 150 hp motor. There was a lot of difference in time to plane and top speed. Not much difference in price. If you really want a deal, get the past years model during a boat show. Most of the time, they are the exact same boat, just a different year model. You can get them around $3000 to $5000 cheaper, same warranty. You will just lose a little on the resale due to the model year. If you are keeping it for more than 7 ot 8 years, it won't make any difference on resale, motor and hull condition is what will sell an older boat. |

the 2170 blazer is pretty much the same hull since blazer splashed PF/Kenner hulls |
Theres a Really nice Haynie Z21 on 2 cool Gray and white for 36,000, its been there a while probably could get him down. I talked to him his wife is pushing for a camper.
