washer dryer advice
 

So the wife wants a new washer and dryer, we are really looking for something quiet but I have heard about the front loads mildewing if you don't clean the front gasket between the door and basket. I have also heard a lot of problems with electronics going out, but it seems like the front loads are by far the quietest. So I guess I'm looking for a dependable, quiet top load washer and front load dryer. So pros, cons, and suggestions...bring em:help:

Shawn, in my personal opinion, i don't think it matters what you buy or how much you pay for it, but you'll be disappointed all the way around. All appliances are made in China these days and they will break. The companies know this and that's why you have to buy a warranty, because they don't stand buy their product. My Aunt furnished her kitchen with high end appliances last year and her dishwashers bottom seal is already breaking, well she called them to get it fixed and they said she didn't purchase the warranty, but they could send someone out to look at it for $225 dollars, and if they have to take it to fix it, it will be $125 to take and whatever it costs to fix it. Then once it's fixed they said she could purchase a warranty. She said screw that, it's not leaking yet, so she's gonna let it go until it does and just buy a new one. This was from Sears and i think regardless which way you go you'll get screwed. Just my $.02

red devil hit the nail on the head...get a warranty. My grandmaw bought a dishwasher a few years ago, it broke in 7 months.... she had a 6 month warranty.... she spoke with the customer care rep, they said it wouldve been cheaper to get a warranty, she said, well my arms aint broken, that'll be my dishwasher... I have a washer and dryer that sounds like wall street with all the banging and whistling, etc.... but it came with the trailer.... DONT DARE put too much clothes in the washer..... damn trailer like to have come off the blocks from the shaking.

I never bought the warranty on anything and have had good luck.
But I buy only things made in North America. US, Canada or Mexico.
If none are available, I will look for something from Japan.
Cost more, but lasts longer.

I hate Chinese crap.

Mother in law bought a window unit a/c from Korea, cheap, crapped out.
Next 2 she bought were from China, didn't last. All plastic and no name
brand crap installed all over it.

I bought her a good one, made in the US. No rattles, no funny noises, no
issues at all. Just had to pay twice the money for it. But for what she
already spent on the other 2, she could have bought a good one.

The only good thing about China is they have some nice lookin chicks.

I have had no problems with the LG front loaders. I just leave the door to the washer open for a few hours after doing the washing part and the gasket dries out. Have had them for 3 years now and no issues yet knock on wood.

4 years ago...........I had major problem when I bought a Sears kenmore dryer. I burnt up 3 motors on new dryers. First one worked for 2 or 3 loads. Next one, burnt up in 1 minute.

They delivered a 3 rd machine...... it was the wrong model but it worked for 5 or 6 loads until they brought the right model the next day. It also stopped working in a few minutes.

IMO.....the problem was a design flaw in the motor wiring. Two of the motors [I did not get to look at the second machine] broke a motor winding wire in the same spot. See pic......look at the end of the broken wire in the top of the picture. Also during the 3 or 4 day this took place, I replaced every bit of wiring and plugins from the breaker to the dryer.....and the 3 rd Dryer still burnt the motor wire.

Sears was not happy..... I was not happy.....wife was not happy...... got my money back and bought a Whirpool from Stines and it has worked for 4 years now.

My Kenmore washer is 21+ years old and had to get a switch and agitator gear stops [plastic parts] replaced last year.

we have the Maytag front load..........
Good stuff so far, only a couple years old though.
My sister has the older Maytag front load and yes it does mildew.

Get the warranty and swing for the fence is really all you can do

Yeah thats what im thinkin, hate to get rid of the old ones but they are just too loud for a utility room without a door and there is no way im gettin a door

Got front load washer & dryer....no problems.....got them at scratch & dent store for half the price, scratches are on the side, can't see them

If that mutha will rock ya trailer, I can think of some fun I could have ridin dirty with the mrs on it!:D

Lots of new washer dryers have that shake control thing fixed.
My washer is 15 years old and it has the donkadonkadonkadonka
control. Just hafta pay extra for it.
I don't think them front load washers have to worry about that.

Best advice I have is get something basic with the knobs. Every appliance I see with the smart technology and the touch buttons, and digital screens all have some kind of ecectrical catastrophe happen. I will always have the knobs on my stuff. Just less that can break.

Some where in Baton Rouge, she found them & had them delivered....really couldn't say I was out of town
