Boat Stabilizing (Trim Tabs)
 

Well im looking into getting trim tabs and im curious about these automatic self adjusting ones, any one running them on there boat, are they worth a shat? or spend the extra money and get hydraulic or electric ones?
Im just trying to get a level ride and fix porpoising, im having to trim my motor down to much to keep it from coming up.
Any help or input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

get the lenco electrics and dont look back. one of the best things ever made for a boat.

Lenco electric....(for your boat would be best) but you have to upgrade the switch to the one with the position indicator if you want to have them self adjust.

You can go to this site for a little more inside info: http://www.bennetttrimtabs.com/hydraulicvselectric.php Had em on my Century 2201 bay and never had a problem. Most bays come with the electrics ...no internal mounting of pumps etc. Cost less and faster response.

hydraulic tabs do have the pump inside and can make a mess but they do last a long time. electrics are nice too. electric would prob be best for you if you have limited space to mount the hydraulic pump and tank.

I got zero space so i was leaning more to electric, i was just curious about those auto adjust tabs, seems like a waste of keesh but just wanted to check before i made a decesion.

What size are you looking at? 9x9?

He probably needs 9x12's

I can get you a set of 9x12's lencos brand new for 368.00. Lenco sells the switches seperately. Id have to check on them

9x12 is suitable for an 18 footer?

I got 9x12s on my 17' action craft

yeh i was looking at the 9x9 but if 9x12 is what i need then thats what i need to look into lol.
My only worry is . . . . i have my talon and transducer mounted to the transom not sure if they will be in the way or not depending on were the tabs mount.

yeh thats what i was afraid of dosent look like ill be getting tabs in there. . . . . maybe a hydrofoil will help with the porpoising at least

Im not a big fan of hydrofoils,but if you need one get a bobs machine. The big bulky ones just create drag and slow you down,and makes turning tougher. http://www.bobsmachine.com/Products/...stabilizer.cfm

This is true. Years ago I went fishin' with this dude and he had one of them Dol-Fin hydrofoils on his boat. No trouble stopping when you backed off the throttle. :smokin:

i'd get a hydraulic jack plate b4 tabs if i were u.....=)......tabs 'll slow ya down some more....jack plate will allow you to really porpoise lol.....
