God/Good Fisherman?

Tilte Change: Good Fisherman?

In your eyes....or "W" code :D: What makes/what does it take to consider one a Great Fisherman? Is it being a numbers guy?...hawg hunter?....being able to fish for a variety of species: inshore, fresh, offshore, fly? What distinguishes the good from the great, and the great from the evermentioned "Pilgrim" or as we call 'em Jimmy's! ...

And good luck to all fishing the redfish tourny this weekend!

SULPHITE 04-29-2011 01:24 PM

I changed the title sorry D!! LOL! It seems we have the messiah of fishing on this board!! LMAO!!

I got popcorn. This should kill the rest of the work day. Lol

I figure a good fisherman is one who puts in hours on the water, wether they catch or not. Cause to be good at something you have to put the work in...now great is able to catch whenever.

Then "god" status is only reserved to those who double rig pink and chartreuse corkys, rig a top water behind a popping cork, denounce all other baits as "inferior", And keep limits of fish each day even though you are only allowed 2 limits in the freezer.

Great is being able to catch em at all times, in all conditions, ecpecially when others cant

Shawn Braquet 04-29-2011 03:46 PM

this really should have been started when W was at work...just sayin would have been a lot more interesting

may name my bay boat the mayflower, or the santa maria

mcjaredsandwich 04-29-2011 05:37 PM

Jason, with the amount of time we spend on the water, no electronics, just putting in the work, we are good fisherman. Sure, we don't put a limit in the box everytime, but we can usually find a fish or two somewhere....the way I sees it, one fish will fit plenty good in my tummy, therefore I am a good fisherman.

I think being a great fisherman 1st begins with that person having the utmost respect for the outdoors and for others out on the water. I also think that a great fisherman is willing to help out other fellow fisherman and take in newcomers to the sport and teach them so that they can also become "great". Just because you catch fish or have a nice boat or put in 5,648 hours on the water doesn't make you a great fisherman. Just my .02

I agree. If you enjoy yourself and help others do the same.....that's "great"!!

Deerfarmer 04-29-2011 06:47 PM

I think a good fisherman is one that truly enjoys it. I don' fish to beat someone. I fish cause I enjoy it. I do think a good fisherman/outdoorsman is considerate of others and don' t pot lick or blow you out of the water passing you.

fishinpox 04-29-2011 09:37 PM

If you can potlick under the radar then u r a good fisherman *****

LPfishnTIM 04-29-2011 10:47 PM

a good fisherman is someone who knows the area that they fish, and the conditions, season and time that they are fishing in and can catch the species of fish that they are chasing.

Gottogo49 04-30-2011 08:11 AM

Maybe I am a good fisherman after all,
well not a bad fisherman anyway,

A good fisherman hires a guide for every tourny ........ A great fisherman hires 2 for every tourny
