before you order a new one pull your old one apart and see whats wrong with it. if its just the brushes that a 20.00 fix. if its the armature get a new motor. if your dealer says they cant get the brushes bring them to a electric motor shop and they will match them.

A new motor is expensive.

Try connecting power directly from the battery to the trim motor. If this does not make it spin, take the motor apart. Look at the brushes.... the black carbon things that touch the motor. If one is broken, it needs replacing.

Attached to the brushes, is a "flexable" copper wire. Look very very close at this copper wire. If you see any "white" spot..... it will be hard to spot.....the wire is bad and needs to be replaced. I had one bad wire [other 3 were ok] and my motor [this was on my starter motor] would not work. A new set of brushes does not cost much.

To reassemble...... is kind of tricky, with the springs behind the brushes. PM me if you need help putting it back together.

Motor is good. Hot wired and trim went down. Did it on the up wire and heard a wire frying. Right were the wires go in to the houseing that the motor sits in. I'll take the wire guard off, this afternoon I should see some evidence were that wire fried. Hopefully that will solve the problem.
